RCAETP: Reliable and Congestion Aware Event Transmission Protocol in a Wireless Sensor Network

Sreejish Soman, A.Kaleeswaran

The most important goal of wireless sensor network is to forward the occurance of events to the destination in a reliable and fast manner. There exist several methods for packet forwarding. Most researchers focuses on single node to forward event packet and some researchers use all nodes (nodes in event region) to forward event packet. A new technique named as Reliable and Congestion Aware Event Transmission Protocol (RCAETP) in a wireless sensor network for real time event detection and reliable packet forwarding in wireless sensor networks is introduced here. In RCAETP, the concept of cluster heads to forward the event when an event occurred is introduced here. The number of event forwarding nodes are restricted by n/2(for even number of nodes) or n-1/2(for odd number of nodes). As a result it helps in energy conservation, reducing congestion in network and computation cost in the network as well as it ensures the reliability in event forwarding. The literature survey has been done on various techniques in event detection.
