Alcohol can affect the pharmacokinetics of drugs by altering gastric emptying or liver metabolism. Many alcohol-drug interactions occur at the level of actual metabolism. Alcohol intake can alter the pharmacokinetics of medications, including their absorption and metabolism. Conversely, alcohol pharmacokinetics can also be altered by medications.
