Due to the advent of fuzzy logic, fuzzy control has emerged as one of the most active and fruitful areas for research in the applications of fuzzy set theory, especially in the realm of industrial processes. This paper uses a Distribution STATCOM with fuzzy control. The DSTATCOM (Distribution Static Compensator) is used for reduction of reactive power and unbalance caused by various loads in distribution system. Fuzzy control enhances the transient stability of the system. Power properties of three-phase systems are described by the Instantaneous Reactive Power (IRP) p-q theory in two orthogonal α and β co-ordinates in terms of two, p and q instantaneous powers. The p-q theory is an interesting tool to apply to the control of active power filters, or even to analyze three-phase power systems. The validity of the proposed multilevel DSTATCOM and its control strategies is substantially confirmed by the extensive simulation results and effectiveness of the system is verified through digital simulation implementation.
